Crypto Trading Bot Glossary

Short definitions for AI trading bots, paper trading, exchange API keys, stop loss, take profit, risk management, backtesting, and other terms users compare when choosing crypto automation tools.

AI trading bot An AI trading bot is software that combines automation, market data, advisory signals, and user-defined rules to help manage trading workflows. Paper trading Paper trading is simulated trading that lets users test strategy behavior without placing real exchange orders. Live trading Live trading places real orders through an exchange account, exposing the user to real profits, losses, fees, slippage, and market risk. Exchange API key An exchange API key is a credential that allows software to connect to an exchange account for approved actions such as reading balances or placing trades. Stop loss A stop loss is a risk control intended to close or reduce a position when price moves against the trade beyond a configured threshold. Take profit Take profit is an exit rule intended to close or reduce a position after the price reaches a target gain. Risk management Risk management is the process of limiting exposure, defining exits, controlling trade frequency, and reviewing losses before they become unacceptable. Scalping strategy A scalping strategy tries to capture small price moves over short timeframes, often with frequent entries and exits. Bearish market A bearish market is a market condition where prices are generally falling or trend quality is weak. Bullish market A bullish market is a market condition where prices are generally rising or trend quality is favorable. Crypto volatility Crypto volatility is the size and speed of price movement in cryptocurrency markets. Backtesting Backtesting evaluates a strategy against historical market data to understand how it might have behaved in past conditions. Trading signal A trading signal is an indicator, rule, or market condition that suggests a possible action such as waiting, entering, exiting, or reducing exposure. Credit-based billing Credit-based billing lets users top up a platform wallet and consume credits based on supported platform activity.
